Was verstehe ich von dem, was du mir sagst? Und wie kann ich wissen, was dies für dich bedeutet? Julia Kristeva argwöhnte in «Geschichten von der Liebe» (1989), dass die Sprache [der Liebe] immer Literatur sei. Der Gegenstand, von dem sie spricht, bleibt abstrakt. Man kann ihn weder anfassen noch gemeinsam ertasten. So bleibt es völlig ungewiss, ob wir das gleiche meinen, wenn wir das gleiche sagen. Die ’Wahrheit‘ bleibt imaginär, das Verstehen umschifft im besten Falle immer knapp den Zusammenbruch.
Diesem Zustand der Krise inszenieren Baggenstos & Rudolf mit leichter Hand: Die beiden liegen im Wasser und sprechen miteinander, einander zugeneigt. Die Worte aber werden von Luftblasen eingeschlossen, seine Inhalte dringen verzerrt ans Ohr des anderen, und doch, es geht, irgendwie.
What can I understand of what you are telling me? And how can I know what this means for me? Julia Kristeva, in her «Stories of love» (1989), suspected that the language [of love] is always literature. The object she talks about remains abstract. It can neither be touched nor felt. Thus it remains uncertain whether we mean the same when we say the same. The ’truth’ remains imaginary and understanding, in the best case, always narrowly avoids collapse.
This state of crisis is implemented by Baggenstos/Rudolf with the greatest of ease: They both lie in the water and talk to each other, facing each other. However, their words are integrated into air bubbles and their contents reach the other’s ear in a distorted way. And still, it works, somehow.
