«Ein Stück vom Himmel» haben wir anlässlich einer VBS Modeshow an der Züspa am 12.11.2007 in Zürich gefilmt. (An der Messe repräsentierte sich das Schweizer Militär im grossen Stile und unter anderem auch mit dieser Modeshow. Sie wurde vom und durch das Schweizerische Militär durchgeführt)
Wir haben das Videomaterial kaum bearbeitet und so belassen wie wir es gefilmt haben. Die grösstenteils fehlende Tonspur und die Kontextverschiebung in den White Space benützen wir, um eine paradoxe Konstellation von visuellen Begriffen sichtbar zu machen. Fröhliche Lockerheit prallt auf beklemmende Ernsthaftigkeit, ein blondes Schönheitsideal tanzt Hand in Hand mit vierfrucht farbenem Tarngrün. Als wir diese Modeshow filmten war die Bühne in ein riesiges Setting aus Präsentationen des Schweizer Militärs eingebettet. Dieser Bezug geht durch das Video mit nur Modeshow-Bildern verloren. Dabei wird es noch rätselhafter was die Bilder aussagen, was möchten die Bilder überhaupt zeigen und wer soll damit angesprochen werden? Es reicht nicht zu sagen etwas sei propagandistisch, man muss sehen können wie sie funktioniert und wie sie sich konstituiert.


We filmed «A piece of heaven» on the occasion of the DDPS fashion show (Department of Defence, Civil Protection and Sport Switzerland) at Züspa on 12.11.2007 in Zurich. (At the fair the swiss army presented itself in big style and among other things with this fashion show. The show was implemented by the swiss army.)
We have hardly modified the video material and left it the way we filmed it. We use the mostly missing audio and the change in context in the white space to make a paradoxical constellation of visual terms visible. Cheerful ease blazes down on oppressive seriousness; a blonde beauty very close to the ideal dances hand in hand with camouflage green. When we filmed this fashion show the stage was embedded in huge presentations of the Swiss Army. This relation is lost in the video that only contains fashion show images. It thus becomes even more puzzling to read the images and to interpret what the images show and how should be addressed by them. It is not sufficient to claim that something is propagandistic. One also has to be able to see how it works and what it is made of.
